Depth of Darkness

A sequel to Depth of Rock.

Don't want to play the first? Here's a rundown:

Your brother partook in an experiment, but he never returned. You went to their website to file a complaint but ended up finding out what happened to your brother. He was turned into a statue! Now that you know the facility's secret, they kidnapped you and put you in a padded cell in a straight jacket.

What about darkness?

This is a game about navigating a labyrinthian facility outfitted with clap-activated lights. Hide in the dark from your captors!

My brother might be a stone statue, but he’s MY stone statue. If I don’t break out of this facility and save him, my mother will kill me!

An entry to Simplicity Jam #2

This jam's theme was Light & Shadow. I took a literal approach by making the player hide in the dark. Of course, enemies can hide in the dark too, which makes turning on the light risky!

Limiting Myself

The jam includes limitations, I picked Dynamic Visibility for my limitation! This means that the player can't see what isn't illuminated. In Depth of Darkness, the only thing you can see in the dark is noise indicators, but only for certain enemies. I figure this is a fine compromise since the particles only show approximate location, and it makes dodging enemies more satisfying.
